Hygiene kits for the homeless

Khalsa Kits

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the world faced unprecedented circumstances at an extreme level never witnessed before. As a result, homelessness in Southern California increased dramatically. Plans of action were designed of epic proportions, however basic steps of community support seemed lacking for our homeless population.

Khalsa Kits’ were created to fill that gap. The goal was to provide a portable and easy-to-transport hygiene kit filled with supplies to improve cleanliness and reduce the causes of future illnesses. The kits each contained a clean T-shirt, pair of socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, first-aid kit, comb, and mask to improve personal hygiene, allowing them to be stored for future needs and emergencies. Working with multiple donors and nonprofits in 2021, Khalsa Kits was able to assemble and distribute 1,000 hygiene kits within four weeks to the unhoused population of Skid Row and Pacoima within Los Angeles.
